Thermal treatment of waste combined with highly efficient generation of electricity

25/09/2017

The British waste management company Viridor has awarded our French partner CNIM the contract to build the turnkey Avonmouth plant. The facility will have a waste combustion capacity of approximately 320,000 t/a. CNIM and the British construction company Clugston Construction will jointly build the plant in Avonmouth, which is located in the outskirts of Bristol. Operation is expected to start at the beginning of 2020.

MARTIN will supply two 3-run reverse-acting grates Vario with a width of 7.820 m each. The gross heat release per line will be 57.8 MW with a throughput of up to 23.9 t/h. The steam generators planned by CNIM will achieve efficiency rates of over 90 %. The plant will generate 32 MW of electricity, thereby providing renewable energy for approximately 40,000 households.
